At the begining of the year our 9R Social Studies class decided we wanted to take a trip to Auckland and visit places of interest from our studies. Then the Lockdown's hit and we were grounded. When we got back in April I put it to our class that we go to Wellington at the end of the year. They all agreed and it was all on from that point onwards. Eight months of looking for money and booking everything. On Monday 16 Nov twenty students and five adults left our college at 6am. We bused to Auckland and caught our flight to Wellington. For some of our students this was the first time on a plane. Once in Wellington we headed for the National Library and had a planned educational tour.
That was fasinating and we got to see the original Treay of Waitangi. We checked into our accomodation at the YHA in the city which was perfect. On Tuesday we visited the Parliament Buildings where our Northland MP and past student Willow-Jean Prime met us and here is our photo with her. After Parliament we went onto Te Papa photo below, and had a great look around. On Wednesday our last day we took the students to Bowlarama for a fun morning before heading to the airport at 2pm and flying back to Auckland. The weather was a bit rough but the kids handled it well. Our driver was waiting and we headed straight back home to college arriving at 7.30pm. What an awesome trip we all had and what a great bunch of students to travel away with. Thank you 9R and our students from 9K & 9T you guys rock.
